On boxing Day it has long been a tradition amongst racegoers to get away from the Christmas fireside  celebrations  and head for their favourite racecourse. Undoubtedly top of the list of venues to attend is Kempton Park which every year plays host to the King George VI Chase one of the biggest fixtures of the jump season.

This  Grade 1 National Hunt horse race is for four-year-old and above horse run over a distance of 3 miles and really challenges the very best and is probably second only to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in terms of prestige, with the race earning the title as the mid- season championship

It was Cue Card who claimed a famous victory last season and he is being aimed at a repeat this season with the Colin Tizzard trained chaser sure to be popular with punters once again. Other potential runners include Grade 1 winner ‘Tea For Two’ for Nick Williams and Coneygree, who was the Gold Cup winner back in 2015.  Dual King George winner, ‘Silviniaco Conti’ looks set to be amongst the King George Chase runners once again this year and is likely to be towards the top of the betting as he goes for a third triumph at Kempton.

Paul Nicholls, who trained ‘Kauto Star’ has had two other winners of the race and is firmly established as one of the King George Top Trainers and his stable jockey, Ruby Walsh is also a man to follow in the big race this year.
